Supreme Court bans park racial segregation and upholds military justice ruling

The Supreme Court ruled segregation unlawful in public parks pools and golf courses and upheld a military justice provision allowing arrest and trial of a veteran for crimes in civilian life while in uniform overseas. It also refused to review housing segregation and affirmed a Maryland and Baltimore park and golf course case. The court gave no opinions and based rulings on the same reasoning as last year’s school desegregation decision. In a separate 6 to 3 vote the court upheld the Troth case involving a Pittsburgh steelworker later charged with murder in Korea.
