Crashed Cars Narrowly Miss Train On Bay Bridge Boulevard
Two Navy men were seriously injured when a car struck another and narrowly missed a Southern Pacific freight train on Bay Bridge Boulevard near Mt Eden. Mrs Dorothy Smith 26 and daughter Carolyn 2 watched as James Calvin Peck 21 Naval Air Station Alameda sped toward the Smith car and failed to stop. The Smith car was hurled 90 feet across the path of the train and struck a power pole. Peck and passenger Harry Brown 29 escaped serious harm. Continued on Page 2.
