Wheelchair week to spotlight campus handicapped access
Chabot College students plan a week long experiment with six able bodied volunteers using wheelchairs and blindfolds to simulate disabled students experiences on campus. Gregorio M Lopez Jr president of the newly formed Disabled club says three stay in chairs all week one will use a chair 24 hours a day five days a week two others will be blindfolded throughout the period. The aim is to show the need for better facilities and tape recorders for note taking by blind students. A prior incident involved a partially blind student denied a tape recorder by an instructor. The club wants policy changes limiting restrictions to those with sight and officials planned further discussion on page 2.
