Tran f jel Burros, 28, a New York Ku Klux Klan leader, shot himself minutes after learning his Jewish origin had been made public he planned to confront a Times reporter and wipe out the newspaper stall. The death occurred in the Philadelphia apartment of Roy J. Frankhouser Jr 25, named by the House Un American Activities Committee as Klan grand dragon of Pennsylvania. Police listed the death as suicide. Burros had been identified as New York State grand dragon at hearings.
Hayward officer Jay Thomas recounts staking out the home of Dr. Donald Cherry for weeks. Saturday night the Woodland Estates burglar Richard Lee Shryack, 22, of Hayward, broke a sliding glass door with a crowbar, then hid as a barking dog alerted neighbors. Shryack raised his hands only after the officer warned he would shoot, and was arrested.
Hayward police captured 22 year old Richard Lee Shryack after stakeouts at Woodland Estates. He admitted a long burglary spree across Hayward area and other cities. Police recovered about $5090 in stolen goods from a Medford Street home and found tools and equipment in his car. Shryack faces multiple burglary charges and was due in court.
