In Mission San Jose, a pickup plunged about 60 feet down Mill Creek Road. Driver Coleman M. Horkan, 32, and passenger Glenwood W. Carroll were hospitalized with possible head injuries after Carroll was ejected before the vehicle went over the cliff. Horkan was found at the bottom.
A La Mirada woman, Aurea A. Bagnol, 37, was killed in a three car collision three miles west of Livermore on Highway 580. Six others were injured and Bagnol’s husband Leoncia, 33, a driver in the crash, is in satisfactory condition. The westbound Bagnol vehicle tried to turn left through a divider when struck by two eastbound cars.
Two separate motorcycle accidents near Hayward injure three people. David Boggs, 24, on Redwood Road near Pinehurst, suffered major injuries and remained in serious condition. In San Lorenzo, Patrick Smith, 16, fractured his foot and Dannie Fanning, 16, sustained multiple cuts and a concussion after a bike collision at Via Amigos and Via Catherine. both were treated and released or listed in satisfactory condition. The rider Toby Longueira, 47, escaped injury as his car was not damaged.

Pilot Ted Connors reported the hijack from near Jacksonville and planned Havana as the destination. a crew of six and ten foreign airliners have faced hijackings this year.
