Baby Tumbles From Moving Car In Valle Vista

A two year old girl, Janet Hoskins, fell from a moving car on Jackson Street and sustained minor scrapes and bruises. She was treated at Fairmont Hospital and released to her mother Marie Hoskins of 99 Thiel Road. The incident occurred as the car traveled about 20 miles per hour.

First Grant Made From Bond Money

The State School Building Finance Committee was asked to set aside a second 50 million of a 250 million school construction bond approved last November. The allocations board expects 80 million in applications by next September as bond funds remain available for districts exhausted of local resources. The first funded project is a 299,516 elementary school in Florin California, with 39 other applications pending attorney general opinion on furniture purchases. The board also rescinded earlier allocations to Humboldt county districts to allow reapplication for bond money. A June 5 meeting is set for the Mentally Handicapped Children's organization at Fuller School San Leandro with crafts and a welcome to parents.

Down in the Valley One-Act Operetta at HUHS Featured Cast

The Hayward High School presents Down in the Valley a one act operetta by Kurt Weill directed by George Z Wilson with Nathan Lanez as Brack Weaver and Pearl Keaner as Jenni Parsons Thursday and Friday at 815 pm in the auditorium. The fall a cappella selections led by Barbara Henry precede the show and the student cast includes numerous named performers with the high school orchestra providing music.

City planning commission favors two large 1950 51 tasks toward Hayard master plan. Three of four supervisor hopefuls addressed the Southern Alameda County Real Estate board in five minute talks. Incumbent George Janssen touted 17 years on the job and denied retirement rumors. Art Maganini criticized tax disparities between downtown Oakland and outlying districts and called for equalized burdens and agency consolidation. Robert River said he entered politics by mistake and pledged to defeat the machine hindering Southern Alameda growth, citing needs for transportation, water, and fair taxes. Also reported: softball equipment theft from Castro Valley Community Center locker, with ten softballs, two bats, an umpire mask, a first aid kit, three bases missing between Saturday and Monday.

LeBlanc Placed on Probation for Building Code Violations

Armand LeBlanc of Castro Valley was found guilty in a May 4 jury trial of uniform building code violations and placed on a one year probation by Judge C. O. Heffernan of San Leandro. He faces two conditions: comply with the building code during probation and cooperate with inspectors and probation staff. No fine was imposed.
