Local Derby Site Battle Ends With Dublin Rebound
The Alameda County Board overruled sheriff and merchants, allowing the Bay Area Soap Box Derby to return to old Dublin Boulevard. Lions Clubs of Fremont defended the event amid traffic, litter, and safety concerns raised by Dublin merchants. An alternate Greenville Road site was deemed unsafe, keeping Dublin as the preferred location pending a permanent derby site.
