Titus Convicted After Tax Evasion Trial in 1960s

DeWayne F. Titus, a Fremont financier, was found guilty by U S District Judge Charles B Renfrew on three tax evasion counts and two false return counts for 1968 and 1969. Titus, who acted as his own attorney, complained of trial bias and sought immediate sentencing, but sentencing was scheduled for May 26.
