The defense department released a statement clarifying Colson signed terms after the U S joint chiefs rushed to Korea for explanation It says there will be no more compulsory screening of prisoners of war and notes there have been rioting incidents at Koje in February and March The statement also says no further violence is anticipated unless prisoners act first Rose holds 80 000 unruly prisoners and has had three commanders in a week Communist prisoners now appear to control affairs in compound 76 Dodd is the only U N personnel inside the compound and a command post was evacuated in April to protect lives The Reds political organization entered compound 76 and Banner a Pacific War veteran was assigned concessions granting prisoners the right to communicate and strengthen their control

A special election for the Longwood Hesperian annex has been postponed to Tuesday May 27 to complete the Boundaries Commission findings. A public hearing will be held Monday evening in the city council chambers on the proposed annexation.

Autopsy shows Hagopian died from a bullet wound to the abdomen after being shot twice and beaten. Harry Stopp VFW Units Will Meet Tomorrow Night

SAN LORENZ CO William Harry Stopp VFW post 4170 and auxiliary will meet tomorrow evening May 14 at the community center Paseo Grande. Final plans for the annual poppy sale the week of May 24 to 40 will be made. Anyone wishing to help with the poppy sale will be welcome. Plans for attendance at the state convention in San Diego in June will also be discussed. Membership in the past is open to all eligible veterans in the area according to Commander Marshall Council. Thursday evening officers of the post attended services for Charles C. Gier an early member who died recently after a lingering illness. IN COLLEGE Jim Cornwell of Hayward was one of 50 participants in the Modesto Junior college annual spring variety show on College Avenue Friday Albert Beltrami of Modesto was general chairman.

Millman Show Group Plans Second Trip To Sonoma Hospital

Castro Valley entertainers of the Al Millman show plan a second trip to Sonoma State hospital at the patients request. They will depart Sunday morning at 9:40 from the Walsh building on Castro Valley boulevard in a chartered bus. Jess Waller, an Oakland realtor, sponsors the benefit concerts. Thirteen acts comprise the show with veterans of Agnew State Home, Napa, Parks AFB, and Oak Knoll Naval hospital appearing previously.
