In New York three time bombs were found under seats at Radio City Music Hall Sunday and were deactivated by Bo Squad detectives. Cleaning workers found two bombs around 12:30 a.m. A police sergeant located the third device. Detectives gave no detail on when the bombs were timed to explode.
Winners of Bay to Breakers in San Francisco May 2 and Sydney’s inaugural cross city race will swap sides for competition. The Bay to Breakers champ will fly to Sydney for a Sept 5 race, while Sydney’s fastest will return to San Francisco next spring to compete in the eight mile Bay to Breakers course.
In Monterey County a four day search for a missing climber continues. Aerial patrols from Monrovia area assisted by ground teams comb Pfeiffer area and adjacent side trails. Three aircraft and extra personnel joined the effort amid challenging terrain.
Ellsworth Sonny Wisecarver, once dubbed the boy Lothario, was released on 300 bail after his second arrest for possessing obscene materials in Las Vegas Nevada. He operates an adult book store near Henderson and faces prior actions including a license violation and restraining order involving Henderson authorities. Wisecarver’s sensational youth acts with older women are noted from arrests dating back to the 1940s and 1950s in California and Colorado, shaping his notoriety.
A speeding bus with about 70 passengers plunged off a cliff into the Chongpyong reservoir near Kapyong, 30 miles northeast of Seoul. Police said 11 were rescued and 59 remained trapped or believed drowned as the 60 foot deep water hid the submerged bus. The driver lost control while speeding.
The Queen Mary, Southern California's touted new tourist draw, opened with limited crowds. About 6,000 visitors toured the 2020 foot liner on debut day, while over 12,000 came Sunday, prompting officials to turn people away as Pier 1 traffic was restricted.
Three men from Oxnard were booked on suspicion of illegally possessing a firearm after a shot was fired at the UC Santa Barbara gym. No injuries or bullet holes were found. Brown faced an additional charge of possessing a dangerous drug and Wimbley was investigated for drug intoxication. Police found no link to a string of Friday sniper shootings around Santa Barbara targeting a hospital, businesses, and a house.
Retired Adm. Richard H. Jackson, the Navy’s oldest living admiral, marks his 105th birthday in San Diego. Navy League ceremonies at its Coronado annual meeting honor the Alabama native whose life spanned 21 presidents.

A Buddhist nun and a 21 year old monk from the An Quang sect burned themselves during a Hue birthday celebration in Vietnam. The nun’s age was not announced. The monk carried out the act after dousing himself with gasoline and left letters to President Nixon and President Nguyen Van Thieu calling for peace and U.S. troop withdrawal.
