Police report burglars forced entry at Mrs Curtis Chappel’s apartment at 955 B Joaquin Ave in San Leandro yesterday. Entry damaged a door lock. jewelry five rings binoculars and a .45 caliber pistol taken. total value about 705 dollars. Mrs Chappel found home upon returning from work.

Teens Floor Four Policemen in Union City Rampage

Fremont police responded to a disturbance at 11 15 p m near 15th and F streets as about 10 teens assaulted officers. Three Union City youths were arrested for investigation of assault with more suspects sought after officers were knocked to the ground and chased by the youths.

Park District Offers $110000 For Apperson Ranch Purchase

East Hay Regional Park District Board of Directors voted unanimously to offer $110,000 for the 2,300 acre Apperson cattle ranch to block a proposed strip mining operation on the property. The resolution cited weak protections from the Alameda County Planning Commission conditions and noted the quarry plan would harm Sunil wilderness areas within the regional park. Directors also allocated 2,639 for boating gear at the New Castro Regional Recreation Area and 498 more for a possible Lake Chabot expansion if the boating program proves successful.
