Two Injured In Area Crashes
Two people were seriously hurt in separate early morning crashes. Steven Conrad Foster, 21, of Hayward, was pinned in his car after it swerved onto East 14th Street near 163rd Avenue and burst into flame. an unidentified passerby rescued him. Foster was in fair condition at Kaiser Hospital Oakland with injuries not disclosed. In a second incident on Niles Canyon Road near Mission Boulevard, Max Everett Corbett, 38, of Fremont, drifted over the divider and hit another car head on, suffering a broken hip and facial injuries and being taken to Washington Hospital. The other occupants, Evie Lendy Bearden, 20, her husband Ronald, 22, and their 2-year-old daughter Nellie, were treated and released at Kaiser Hospital.

A 46 year old San Lorenzo woman, Phyllis Aliff, is in critical condition at Kaiser Hospital Oakland with third degree burns over about 80 percent of her body after allegedly dousing herself with gasoline and setting herself on fire. Her husband Clyde found her in the backyard at 1741 Via Anacapa after he left the home around 4 p.m. and returned an hour later.
