South County Junior College Bond Plan Expands Campus
The South County Junior College District outlines a $37.2 million bond to develop a 9acre Hayward site, build facilities for 5,000 day students and 10,000 evening students, and fund future campuses in San Leandro Castro Valley and Livermore Pleasanton. The plan, needing two thirds approval, would raise taxes by 0.44 per $100 assessed in 1963-64, with ongoing studies justifying needs and site choices.

County Administrator Earl Strathmann rejects claims there is unused space in the Health Center at 1501 Aventark Boulevard that could house a Hayward San Leandro court unit. Gerald Connell had suggested remodeling could create courtrooms, but Strathmann says space is needed for health services growth and that a permanent facility would be costly and unnecessary.
