$640,000 Jewel Robbery In Rome

Rome police report a $640,000 jewel theft from Mrs. Harrison Williams, Countess Edward von Bismarck, and her husband after they returned to their Rome apartment from Capri. Missing are a court’s bullet, a gold table service, and a silver candelabra and bowl, with insured pieces including diamond earrings, necklace, emerald necklace, and jeweled earrings. The couple’s 63 year old countess, Mona Strader of Lexington, Kentucky, rose to international prominence after marrying Williams in 1926. Williams died in 1953 leaving a portion of his fortune to his wife. The countess and von Bismarck, born in Belgium, had lived in the United States for 20 years before their 1958 marriage.

He aims to walk seven in 15 miles daily through summer winter rain or snow and has covered 32 states and six foreign countries following his doctor’s advice after an operation five years ago to get out and walk.
