Consumers Supermarkets to Close One Day in Protest

A Washington area chain with 19 stores says it will shut its doors for one day to protest rising food prices. Consumers Supermarkets will run a full page ad on Wednesday announcing Saturday closure, which accounts for about 25 percent of weekly business, and will collect petitions asking President Nixon to impose temporary price restraints. Petition drives will be conducted in the parking lots Saturday and delivered to the White House on Monday.
