Outdoor ad ban upheld in San Leandro sign case

The San Leandro mayor’s committee voted to uphold the phaseout of outdoor advertising by 1974, delaying a full staff report until a major advertiser can comment. William Ruge, development director, says representatives from Foster and Kleiser did not attend the session, justifying the policy as consistent with state law and city environment goals.

Obscene Movie Trial Set After Suppression Fight

Judge Robert K. Byers denied a defense motion to suppress evidence from a search of J Sight Club at 26059 Mission Blvd Hayward and tentatively set a June 2 jury trial for Gary Travis and Richard Bowers on charges of distributing obscene material. Det M Tur cited the pair. Travis listed as owner of the stub and covers an expuse. The club is ordered to turn over the films. five other films were confiscated before a prewar hearing.

Inauguration of Alameda County Filipino Community Officers

The Filipino Community of Alameda County holds its biannual inauguration tonight at the Wedgewater Hyatt House in Oakland beginning at 6:30 PM. Multicultural Exhibit at James Logan High School

A one week display at James Logan High School Union City opens Monday featuring books periodicals articles and pictures portraying black native American Asian American and Spanish speaking cultures. Curated by a Menlo Park librarian for New Haven Unified School District the exhibit travels California campuses and now runs 1 pm to 5 pm weekdays and 7 7 pm to 8 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays through Friday.
