Prosecution frames Angela Davia as defendant and counsel
In San Jose a jury heard prosecutors describe Angela Davis as playing a dual role in the kidnapping conspiracy. The trial focuses on pretrial publicity and juror bias as 12 tentative jurors, including Mrs Alii Byatts and Mrs Peter Rath, are vetted. Davis, 28, a black militant and former UCLA instructor, is accused of helping plot and supply guns for a dramatic courthouse escape that left a judge and three others dead. The process may take weeks or months as attorneys question jurors about Davis’s Communist ties and the crime. Davis was released on bail but restricted to the Bay Area with rally restrictions.
