Neighborhood Alert project grows rapidly citywide

The 22 year old Neighborhood Alert program has seen a near doubling of resident participation in six months. Police coordinator Ron McCurdy notes about 300 neighborhood teams exist citywide, up from 180 in January after shifting leadership to civilians. Union City youth held in murder case near Fremont Newark line

Union City teenager and a Milpitas youth in custody after the killing of San Jose janitor Thomas Fussaro 41 whose body was found in a barrel in a field near the Fremont Newark border. Motive appears to be burglary and theft of coins money and guns. All involved were employed by Fussaro's janitorial service and were friends.
