Union City planners deny car wash and gas station permit
Union City planning commissioners denied the Alvarado Niles and Baker roads application for a gas station and car wash and rejected a continuance for a 7 11 store at the same spot citing potential traffic noise and building concerns. The council also reviewed amendments to a proposed planned residential district ordinance including access rules for cluster developments and parking ratios. Public works director Ralph Kirkup warned public access would hinder police patrols and speed enforcement, contrasting with existing private streets where traffic bumps control speeds.
