Advertising Budget Shares In Area Bigger
Oakland Castro Valley Hayward and San Leandro Chambers of Commerce will receive larger shares of the county advertising funds next year. The board of Supervisors approved the 1955-36 budget with increases for Castro Valley to 1600, Hayward to 16000, and San Leandro to 10000. Washington Township remains 1800. Oakland and Berkeley chambers get 40000 and 21200 respectively, plus 2000 for the highway advisory committee and 12000 for the California State Fair.

A new beauty school named Hayward Beauty School will open at 622 Castro Street corner of B in Hayward. It will be directed by leaders with 20 years in the beauty trade and is the first in Hayward or Southern Alameda County. The program covers 1600 hours over at least nine months to qualify for a state hairdresser license, with refresher courses for out of state beauticians and licensed operators. Enrollments are year round for 18 year olds with a tenth grade equivalency. manicuring is offered separately as a 350 hour, three month course.
