Fremont housing plan faces debate over low income spread

Ohlone trustees back a six million dollar budget housing plan to be debated tonight as the city seeks to disperse low and moderate income housing across Fremont. The measure stems from housing element goals and local complaints about concentrating such housing in the Kennedy High area near Sundale Arms. The policy limits low rent and moderate cost projects to under 3 percent of any planning area, with a 50 unit cap per project, and aims to balance distribution among districts including Niles Centerville Irvington Mission San Jose and Warnt Springs.
