Kindergarten Frontiers of Science Signups At 546 Mark
Pre-registrations for kindergarten in the San Leandro Unified School District totaled 54 percent, the district reported yesterday. The figure compares with 47 percent in 1963 and 51 percent in 1962. William Wyckoff, director of the district's special services department, said pre-registration generally covers about 70 percent of expected attendees. Kindergarten attendance is optional in the state, but about 60 percent of district children attend. Of those who attend, 10 to 15 percent will transfer to parochial schools after the kindergarten year, Wyckoff added.
