Integration Plan Upheld In Delaware
In Wilmington, the Delaware Superior Court upheld the State Board of Education’s short range plan for school desegregation this fall and the board’s long range plan for local desegregation by 1970. Car Wagon Crash Kills Six Near Virginia Town
Six people died and five were injured in a head on collision two miles west of a Virginia town. A car struck a station wagon. one victim was found pinned for two hours. The Dawson family member, Goll Dawson, 4, of Roanoke was among the dead. Police reported the wreck, near Farmville, occurred shortly before 1 p.m. Two separate fatalities were noted at the scene and five more died later at Medical College of Virginia Hospital in Richmond. Virginia’s highway death toll rose with this multiple fatality crash, the second in the state in a week.

Desperate 5-Year-Old Boy Survives Desert Ordeal
Bert Wayne Cava of Millbrae California endured a 50 hour desert trek near Redmond Oregon after wandering from a family stop. He traveled about 17 miles through rattlesnake country with no food and little water, barefoot in corduroy pants and tennis shoes. A large search, supported by around 300 people, found him alive and he is recovering with normal vitals in Redmond hospital. His sister Cynthia and father Al Cava credited the rescue to Jefferson County Sheriff Jim Summerfield.

Lost Youth Found Safe After Mount Adams Search
Harold Daudelin of Rochester New Hampshire was found safe near the base of Mount Adams after a weekend hike with two other youths amid a violent thunderstorm. More than 100 rescuers and a helicopter scoured the White Mountain area. the boy, who disappeared about 1:30 a.m. Saturday, was located around 2 p.m. Sunday with minor scratches and insect bites.
