Threatened Hawaii dock walkout could paralyze trade

Hawaii faces possible trade paralysis if 900 dock workers strike by Sunday after over a year of negotiations. The International, Fang- Shoremen's and Warehorse men's Union demands a settlement by midnight Sunday. Gov Burns seeks to avoid a strike, while Operation Blackeye pushes for Dock Seizure Act use. If held, docks may not fully shut but would disrupt shipments, with air cargo partially offsetting losses.

The outcome, likely to be appealed to the U S Supreme Court, follows prior refusals to hear similar war legality questions.
