Transit plans for Hayward growth boost transit district needs

Alameda County transit leader Robert F Nisbet told Southern Alameda Rotary Club that Hayward may rise to nearly 200000 residents by 1980, becoming the county's second largest city and triggering a vast expansion of local and interurban transit. A final district plan could underpin a bond issue next November for equipment and operation. The plan envisions twice current service levels, with broader street and parking demands as the city expands and prosperity grows.

Planning Director Roy Potter supported the plan, noting its potential for a better living environment and flexible lot arrangement within the 6600-square-foot minimum target.
