Fair skies and moderate temperatures are forecast for tonight and tomorrow with some afternoon winds. Tonight's lows are expected to be between 48 and 54 degrees, and tomorrow's high should reach up to 76. Hayward readings note yesterday's high and tollay's low.

Sacramento, San Joaquin, and Santa Barbara areas mostly fair with mild winds. highs 65 to mid 80s and lows in 30s to 50s. northwest to westerly winds 5 to 18 mph. Santa Maria and Monterey Bay coast fog tonight, sun. otherwise fair with 10 to 15 knot winds offshore.
United Nations dispatch reports the Soviet Union used its 100th Security Council veto to block a resolution urging India and Pakistan toward new talks on Kashmir. Adlai Stevenson denounced the veto as an abuse of the UN, while India and Pakistan remain at odds after nearly five months without concrete progress.

Federal mediators announced settlements in some sectors, including Ford Auto workers and Ozark Air Lines pilots, with ratification pending.
In Cleveland, Ford and United Auto Workers negotiators reached a partial settlement on production standards and related issues ending the early June stoppage. The deal centers on stamping panels and reinitiation of work at the Walton Hills plant, with 4,200 UAW members affected and ratification expected by Sunday.

He says Morrison warned that bond references could reopen parts of the budget, though Republicans admit they lack votes to change it. They vow to push for budget cuts as an important issue for the people.

EU blame featherbedding and seek arbitration within the presidential commission framework with potential emergency measures if talks fail.
The American Cancer Society urged college presidents to question tobacco company sponsorship of televised athletic contests. A brush fire near San Francisco burned about 1000 acres and shut Bayshore Highway traffic briefly. Fire Chief Richard Seigs said juveniles started the blaze.
