Housewives Pay Social Calls To Women Prison
In Manhattan, the Friendly Visitors program brings well dressed housewives and professionals to the seven story women’s prison to offer support and guidance. Started from a plea by Anna M. The initiative grew from a few to nearly 30 volunteers, developing a donor funded wardrobe and even a new library, aided by local women’s organizations and the Peale family donations.
