Sacramento June storm breaks rainfall record
A thunderstorm in Sacramento triggered burglar alarms, cut power, and dumped a record 0.66 inches of rain, far exceeding the 1914 June 19 record of 0.02 inches. Normal June rainfall is 0.12 inches. The storm disrupted electrical facilities citywide for about one minute and affected smaller areas for up to several minutes.

San Francisco man convicted of Chinatown gang leader slaying
A 21 year old San Francisco man was found guilty of first degree murder in the execution style killing of Yip Yee lak 82 also known as Dr Wang leader of the Wah Ching gang. He was restrained after spitting and cursing at the deputy district attorney as jurors filed out. The shooting occurred June 3 1973 at the corner of Pacific and Grant Streets. The trial was moved to Sacramento due to heavy Bay Area gang violence publicity.

Spokane woman seeks crow’s nest world record

She aims to sit atop a metal mast for at least 30 days while dieting to shed about 30 pounds from a 75 pound frame.
