Two Bodies Found in Fremont In Dual Investigations
Two unidentified men were found dead in Fremont. One, possibly Arthur B. Jackson, 24, was recovered from Alameda Creek in Niles with seven neck stab wounds after being in the water about three days. The other was discovered behind 855 Mowry Ave in a Ford Tead field, shot in the head, a small caliber pistol nearby, with sunburned, nude-like features noted by finder Harry Quartaroli. Dr. Sidney Jackson, father of Arthur, identified the remains as unsafe due to decomposition.

Radio station receives SLA letter on Jackson slaying
KPFA FM in Berkeley reported a four page communique from the Symbionese Liberation Army criticizing Wilbert Popeye Jackson’s slaying. The station’s spokesman said the letter appeared genuine by delivery method and rhetoric and was signed by the Strategic Command. The letter claimed Jackson was a comrade of the revolutionary movement and claimed he was killed by counter intelligence agents or misguided revolutionaries. Jackson, 45, led the United Prisoners Union and was killed in San Francisco with Sally Voye, 28, whose killer remains at large. The SLA’s last contact with authorities was in June 1974 after several members were killed in Los Angeles. Hearst’s February 1974 kidnapping by the group is noted elsewhere.
