The Los Angeles Times reports William F Knowland was insolvent when he killed himself. Probate filings in Alameda County show Knowland's March 15 estate valued at 641,428 with liabilities of 312,333. Executor Paul Manolis says the estate was solvent and creditors' claims reveal personal contributions by Ann Dickson Knowland. Mrs. Knowland's attorney disputes insolvency and seeks support payments of 6,300 per month.
