Welfare work rule seen as minimal impact
Washington AP says a new federal law requiring 1.5 million welfare recipients to register for work or training will have minimal effect on welfare rolls. The plan doubles past spending, aims to create public service jobs and training positions, and exempts caregivers, full-time students, and remote cases from registration. The WIN program’s shaky track record is noted.
