High sixth grade students at Cherryland school promote to Brel Harte for fall term present a program for parents and friends at 10 30 a m Thursday. The program features folk and square dances vocal numbers by the glee club a vocal duet Patricia Reed and Gladys Ornellas solos Marilyn Bowen Lynn Jones James Christie Donald Endsley and selections by the Bees and Honies orchestra led by Pat Rogers Vernetta Jacobsen Mary Johnson George Tranquilitsky and Farrell Aydelott. County Fair Seeks Volunteers for Home Economics Exhibit
Alameda County Fair announces June 28 through July 8 volunteer slots for the Home Economics department. Entries due June 19 with free entry receipts. representatives accept entries June 26 and 27 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the department building. Limited class openings may close early as sections fill. Volunteer workers listed by town include Pleasanton and surrounding areas, with multiple names per locale.

Alameda County Fair in Pleasant on June 28 to July 8 expects over 1750 poultry entries led by 500 to 700 in the pigeon division. George Bayliss of Hayward, chairman, notes exhibitors from the area anticipate the first major county fair per California standards. Entries close June 19 at midnight with premiums for chickens, bantams, ducks, pigeons and rabbits. Judges include C. P. Hay of Albuquerque and J. H. Nichols of Tacoma. pigeons and ducks judged by F. M. Washburn of Sacramento.

Kids Beating Bushes for Old Shoes Contest
Hayward area youngsters race to collect discarded shoes for votes in a Monday bike contest sponsored by Daughtrey's Department Store. A boy collected 160 pairs last week, with a 64-pair backup, as prizes include a Columbia bicycle and other items. Parents and friends may enter by registering at the store. standings posted daily. Independent IGraduates Hear Phillips Ward Address
