Ehrlichman to receive documents in Ellsberg case
White House lawyers agreed to turn over Ehrlichman notes and papers for his Ellsberg defense, potentially letting him face trial as scheduled next week. Gesell noted the move could avert a Nixon contempt ruling, though privilege and access remain contested. The ongoing Watergate hearings and pretrial motions continue as judge Sinica weighs postponement or trial moves.

Anti-impeach move reported by Chicago Tribune
Presidential lawyer James St Clair sought to brief the House Judiciary Committee claiming Nixon could not be impeached for Watergate conduct. The Chicago Tribune cited sources saying the brief argued a $75,000 hush money payment to E. Howard Hunt on March 21, 1973. Chairman Peter Rodino reportedly became angry as the attempt was made.
