NEW YORK AP The stock market showed broad gains with Eastern Air Lines rising after taking profits earlier. General Motors, Chrysler, Ford, American Motors and American Telephone advanced amid heavy volume. Braniff Blue chips and other glamour issues led the rally with KLM Airlines Delia and several chemicals utilities and oils contributing to the broad advance.

Walkouts Hit A Low For State First Quarter
SACRAMENTO AP There were many strikes in California during the first quarter of 1956 yet employe idleness due to walkouts was the lowest since World War II. Ernest B Webb industrial relations director said the 158000 man days lost in January February March. Webb noted 64 work stoppages began in the first quarter of 1966 compared with 74 in early 1965. Only one strike idled more than 1000 California workers.
