Ride Around Federal Troops Jeb Stuart Leads Famous Reconnaissance
Brig. Gen. J E B Stuart led a 1200 strong Confederate cavalry raid June 14 1862 looping McClellan's Army of the Potomac from Richmond to the Chickahominy and back. The mission supplied Lee with flank intelligence while evading Federal pursuit and destroying a railway bridge. The successful ride demonstrated daring leadership and strategic impact on the capital siege.
