Two Apartment Proposals For Hayward Consideration
Hayward city council will weigh two large apartment projects on Tuesday. One plan calls for 480 units in three stories between Hesperian Boulevard and Calaroga Avenue, just south of Southland Shopping Center, on about 18 acres north of Southgate residents. The second proposes 298 units in an industrial area near Ruus Road and Ruus Lane. The council will also hear bids for a sewage disintegrator and a water main project at the treatment plant area.

Industrial Manager James Araujo says no immediate need for more funds, but contingency financing could be required for unusual projects. Araujo notes the Western Pacific Industrial Park in South Hayward should fill within a year and will be invited to the June 24 City Industrial Commission meeting for explanations of the department's operation.
