Noted New York minister dies at 76

The Rev. Dr. Randolph Ray, 76, longtime rector at Life Church Around the Torner in Newport, died Saturday at Charlson Hospital after retiring in 1956. He authored two anecdotal books and was founder of the Episcopal Actors' Guild, known for uniting couples in durable marriages and for refusing to wed divorced individuals. Born in Madison, Mississippi, he was the son of a plantation owner.

Girl Drowns In Merced River in Yosemite Park

A 5 year old San Francisco girl, Ki en Lee Tom, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L Z Tom, drowned Saturday in the Merced River near El Portal, Yosemite National Park. Officials said she was playing on the bank when swept into the rapid current and recovered two and a half hours later five miles downstream.
