Peterbilt Trucks Fuel San Francisco Airport Runway Build

Newark firm Ready Mix Trucking and Mountain View crews join Peterbilt in supplying Model 281 Wheelers for a major San Francisco International Airport runway extension. The fleet, with Cummins diesels and Dana-Spicer gear, hauls 270 000 cubic yards of sandy oil, aiming for rapid, continuous shifts over 129 working days to extend the runway 2400 feet and widen to 1000 feet.

GM Wins National Safety Council Honor for Record 1960

General Motors earned the NSC Award of Honor for a record safety year in 1960 for U S and Canadian operations. A Detroit plaque was given to GM president John F Gordon by NSC president Howard Pyle. It marked GM’s 15th NSC safety recognition with 998 of 1000 employees not missing work and a low 1.88 lost time injuries per million hours worked among 1468 thousand General Motors employees.
