Shark Attacks Abalone Diver Near Point Conception
Robert Rebstock, 22, UC Santa Barbara marine biology student, was mauled by a large great white about 400 yards off Point Conception while diving for abalone. The shark knocked him airborne, clamped his legs, then released, leaving puncture wounds and a deep thigh gash. He received hospital treatment and survived.
