Edison proposes lifeline rate for poor electricity users
HOSEMEAD UP I Southern California Edison on Wednesday proposed a lifeline rate to aid low income households. A 200 kilowatt hour monthly bill would be 11.23 dollars under the plan, about 2.10 less than for the same usage without the lifeline. The measure accompanies Edison’s general rate increase filing with the Public Utilities Commission, seeking about a 21 percent overall bill rise. Other residential rates would rise about 20 cents monthly to cover roughly 6 million dollars in lost revenue from lifeline users.
