Weekend Traffic Accidents Reported Few Injuries
California highway patrol reported weekend traffic crashes in San Leandro area were comparatively light with only two injuries. A three car collision on East 14th Street near Groveway left two seriously hurt and one minor. Walter Rodriguez, 17, Hayward, was treated at Fairmont hospital and referred for x rays. Earl Sexton, 39, San Leandro, suffered facial lacerations and was taken to Fairmont hospital. Gerald Chadwick, Hayward, received minor injuries after his car was rear ended by Mildred Mac Post, San Leandro, who failed to keep a gas depleted car from stopping. A second crash at Central Avenue and Filbert Street involved Newark residents Howell Hudson and Eleanor Enright, both with minor injuries after their car struck a sign due to brakes failing at a stop sign.

Four Narrowly Miss Death In Gravel Truck Crash
A gravel truck driven by John Redinger a 27 year old Alameda man swerved to avoid a head on collision with a light sedan on Highway 50 near Dublin. The truck overturned and the tractor trailer spilled gravel but Redinger escaped with shock. Three men in the sedan Robert Sparks 23 San Leandro Charles Sparks 30 Oakland and Garth Thomas 32 Oakland were hospitalized with serious injuries. The truck belonged to Manuel Homen Trucking of Newark and was hauling gravel from Pleasanton to San Lorenzo.
