He killed 13 people and wounded several others, including a barber, a druggist and a repairman, before being shot after leaving his home. In Chicago Nina Schmale one of eight student nurses killed today. She had long hoped to become a nurse and would have graduated in three weeks. From Wheaton, her family learned of the tragedy after initial hopes she was safe. Her brother Tom Schmale, a 26 year old physician at the West Side Veterans Administration Hospital, is among the living.
Concord AP report Denise Bonelli four daughter of Mr and Mrs Edward A Bonelli drowned Wednesday in a neighbor's swimming pool.
Two men were injured in a two car crash in San Leandro yesterday afternoon. Clyde Lo Sasso, 19, veered from westbound Bridge Street into the side of James Wooldridge, 22, causing both cars to strike a garage. Lo Sasso was treated and transferred to hospital in satisfactory condition. Wooldridge received facial injuries and was treated.
