Three Trains Stranded In Flood Near Emporia Kansas City
Santa Fe officials reported three crack trains halted by high flood waters stretching from Emporia to Kansas City. The El Capitan departing Kansas City at 1 14 AM and two Grand Canyon Limited trains from the West Coast were set to arrive in Kansas City but were stranded. About 250 passengers aboard El Capitán and roughly 400 on the other two trains were affected. The eastbound El Capitan was also stranded near Chicago, while the Santa Fe California Limited and Texas Chief scheduled from Chicago were canceled.

Riot call in Ashland ends in arrest of Crossland
In Ashland East 14th Street bar scene erupted as deputies tried to arrest Joe C. Crossland 24 of 15939 Foothill Boulevard on a traffic warrant from San Leandro and resisting arrest. Crossland fought deputies and patrons aided his detainment, later being carried to Hayward jail after a head injury to Deputy Maynard.
