War Veteran Hangs Self at Duck Shack
Newark police and deputies investigated the death of 42-year-old David F. Wolfenden, a war veteran and hospital patient, found hanging from a rafters in a duck shack near the Leslie Salt plant. Two men, Hoy A. Secada and Anker F. Christensen, discovered him after searching the area. Christensen administered artificial respiration before Wolfenden was pronounced dead. The body was taken to Bergen mortuary in Niles after checks at Palo Alto hospital indicated a recent argument with a woman friend, who said they had since reconciled.
