Fatal shooting at New York hospital leaves six children fatherless
Frank Walker a 28 year old visiting a sick cousin in a New York hospital was shot and killed after a gunman opened fire in a corridor. Officer John DiCembre was wounded but stable after surgery. Police arrested 19 year old Raymond Tuber and charged him with murder. Mayor Beame commented on the tragedy.

Mack Trucks to lay off 140 workers in Hayward plant
