Secretary of State Frank M. Jordan announced that preliminary registrations show Democrats with a large lead over Republicans. As of end of 1957, 5,820,525 people were eligible to vote next June, with 3,215,804 Democrats and 2,423,724 Republicans, an edge of 792,030 for Democrats.
California motorists face at least 52 million dollars in annual auto insurance increases. Statewide liability premiums rise about 20.9 percent and property damage costs about 13.8 percent. The National Underwriters and National Automobile Association cite inflation higher accident costs medical costs and larger jury verdicts as causes.
County supervisors yesterday accepted responsibility for the Snedigar Cottage education program from County School Supt.
