Estuary oil spill traced to vandals who opened tanks

A spill of about 100000 gallons of oil flowed into the Oakland estuary after tanks at Mort Petroleum were vandalized, opening four valves. Investigators sought to identify the responsible party while crews contained the slick with booms and sandbags. The estuary was closed to traffic as Coast Guard and fire crews worked the scene. AT&T to pay millions in civil rights settlement

Washington reports AT&T and 24 Bell System affiliates will pay up to 15 million dollars to about 15,000 workers 13,000 women and 2,000 men whose promotion claims were denied.
