Baseball star Clemente dies in Caribbean plane crash

First Fremont area baby of the year born at 7 32 a.m.

Washington Hospital Fremont welcomed a baby girl at 7 32 a.m. the new year. She is the third child of James Beirger of AIMTA Wabana Street Fremont. Her father works at Singer Business Machines in San Leandro. The newborn weighed 7 pounds 32 ounces and was unnamed. A boy was born at San Leandro Memorial Hospital 19 minutes later to Frank Byington and his wife of Livermore. Kaiser Hayward reported a baby born at 11 49 p.m. last night amid tax season records.

Fraternity prank ends in death near Angeles Cliff

Fed Phillip Bronner a 20 year old Pierce College student died at the base of a rugged cliff in Angeles National Forest after a fraternity prank by Chi Chi Chi brothers left him stranded in the early hours. Deputies say Bronner last seen at 2 a.m. in the old Ridge Route area. three fraternity members abandoned him clothing in sport coat and gym shorts. His father Leon Bronner described him as a momma's boy and fat, while his mother Diane Brenner urged fraternities be closed due to hazing. Deputies posted no charges yet, and missing persons reports were filed six days earlier.
