Oak Creek lawyer argues agencies fault in mistreatment case

San Francisco attorney Raymond Glickman for Leo and Barbara Guidotti and their son David Guidotti and daughter in law Doree contends in a memorandum to Alameda County Superior Court Judge William Hayes that social welfare agencies should bear responsibility for any mistreatment at Oak Creek Ranch. The civil trial on 28 counts of alleged violations of state codes closed Tuesday and Hayes set five days for replies. Glickman asserts the state licensed and inspected the facility and did not warn it was operating illegally, blaming placement by social welfare agencies and alleging some residents were improperly placed and may have mental illness rather than retardation. He argues damages should reflect closer to intentional wrongdoing and notes the Guidottis have suffered financially and reputationally as their 12-year business ends.
