Curve Missed Car Overturns in Hayward Area
Two Hayward area men died early today when their sedan crashed into a ditch along Asquire Road near the Nimitz Freeway. Leo Bunt, 40, of Princeton, Stu Hayward, a welder, and Thomas E. Mundy, 88, of Ashland, a Navy chief petty officer aboard USS Boxer at Hunters Point Naval Shipyard, were reportedly the occupants. The car reportedly skidded off the curve and overturned, with Mundy’s body found under a board and Hunt’s body likely inside. Funeral services are pending from Sorensen Bros. Mortuary.
